ABOUT ANGLO AMERICAN
Mining giant Anglo American commenced with extensive refurbishments to their premises in Main Street and Marshall Street in 2013 through to 2016. The offices are the hub of their operations in Sub-Saharan Africa and is staffed by around 3,000 employees with a floor space of 18,000m2.
Clayton Communications was commissioned to deliver seven intelligent adaptive multi-zone sound masking systems across three buildings and 13 floors in large office spaces with a high concentration of employees.
The sound masking systems were delivered on time, within budget and according to our design and specification. The systems consist of:
- 1236x sound masking speakers.
- 4x digital signal processors.
- 19x power amplifiers.
- 4x backup amplifier switchers.
- 4x backup power amplifiers.
- 25x ambient-sensing microphones.
- 16800m of cable.
Our project managers worked with the customer to install a system that was programmed and commissioned to provide sound masking coverage throughout the office spaces, concentrating on potential high noise areas. Once the new furniture was installed into the offices we were able to optimally programme the system in line with the final acoustic properties of these areas considered.
The sound masking systems have provided the client’s employees with a more accommodating working environment by reducing the perceived ambient noise levels. Staff are less distracted by ambient noise, and so are able to concentrate on their work. Anglo American benefit from their staff’s higher productivity levels.
